Muse Monday: Alexa Chung

The world's like a science and I'm like a secret.

This week's Muse is the lovely Alexa Chung. I don't like using this word, but she is pretty much the definition of a trendsetter. I can safely say she single handedly is the one who started the anorak trend as well as the peter pan collar trend. She's often said her style is a mix of grandma, hipster and prep, which I wouldn't normally condone, but she pulls it off flawlessly. While Chung is no longer with one of our favorite frontmen, Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys, we can always hope another rad rockstar will pick up the lovely Miss Chung. Being a trendsetter and dating an amazing rockstar is pretty much the definition of being our Muse, which Alexa has nailed perfectly.

Muse Monday: Londoners

london calling

This week's Muse is dedicated to the British girl. Obviously, the Olympics have had my head completely in London, so why not jump on the band wagon. Especially if it's headed across the pond. Featured are House of Holland, Alexander McQueen, Burberry, and of course, Dr. Martens. All pretty essentially British. I only wish I could have put some British food in the set, then again, I don't want to deter anyone. So this set is mainly dedicated to the Brit girls that come to mind, like Kate Moss, Agyness Deyn, Alexa Chung, and anyone else that you can think of that makes you want to have some cool British accent. I reported a while back that I thought the Americana trend would be put to an end by the Brit trend, I featured a ton of Topshop with it also. It seems my prediction is headed into the right direction. I've been seeing a ton of Union Jacks where the American flag used to be. I guess we'll just have to wait until Fashion Week in September to decide who will really take over.

Cambridge Satchel X Basso and Brooke

So I (along with Zooey Deschanel and Alexa Chung) LOVE Cambridge Satchels. It's been debatably said that Cambridge Satchel Company started the neon accessories trend, and their classic style is inevitably going to become iconic, and dare I say, the next Birkin Bag (without the $5,000 price tag).  With Cambridge Satchel's spike in popularity, a collaboration may have been inevitable, and who better to do it with than Basso and Brooke, famed for their clashing and insane prints. With a sneak peak of the line above, I think it's proper to say this is a match made in heaven.

Although you'll have to wait until Fall for these new bags, you can buy Cambridge Satchel's HERE.

By the way, if you want to know when I skip posts, "like" the le rebelles doux Facebook page.

Alexa Chung for Superga

Alexa Chung has been announced as the new Creative Director and face for tennis shoe brand Superga. Though the brand is mainly known in the UK, with Chung as the new Creative Director, they may be soon popping up in local boutiques. Meanwhile, instead of showing you the pictures from the campaign, watch the lovely antique style video. All the clothes are from Chung's own closet and the background definitely has her signature all over it.

If the video isn't working for you, check it out HERE.

I'm really in love with the pajama wear as outerwear trend. I guess because I'm a pretty lazy dresser, and a pajama top is, ironically enough, one of those effortlessly looking pieces. Like a 'just throw it on' type of garment. These were a few of my favorite from this season. Hopefully it's a trend that lasts a little while.

Chanel RTW Spring 2012

I don't like to put celebrities on the blog. I feel like they cheat when it comes to fashion. They can afford to buy expensive clothes and expensive stylists to make them look good. But I couldn't help it when looking at the front row at the Chanel show in Paris this week. From the top, Sean Lennon with girlfriend/model Charlotte Kemp Muhl, Leigh Lezark, Alexa Chung with Jared Leto, a shot of a model with Chanel pearls on her back, and last, but certainly not least, Karl Lagerfeld walking down with Florence Welch. Florence looked barely recognizable (except with her bright, red, iconic hair), and her dress is what struck me the most. It was designed by Karl Lagerfeld specifically for her performance at the show. I added the last shot just to show how amazing the dress is. I'm thinking of maybe making the "celebrity" exception for Florence. Everyone knows she has amazing style. SHE knows how to dress.
