Lookbook: Los LAndia

Featuring some of my absolute favorite micro trends that I've been obsessing over, Wasteland's new lookbook is a grunge dream. Eyeballs, Bart Simpson, baseball caps and one of my favorite models, the whole lookbook sums up what LA is all about right now. Tattoo chokers and platform sneakers make the perfect accessories for a post-grunge look. Definitely diggin' this shit.

So I don't know if many of you have an email subscription to clothing store Wasteland, but I do. And today, I was constantly getting emails, and continuously reading them. Anyways, one of the emails was from Wasteland and had this picture inside. It was advertising their new vintage that arrived online, and all I saw was that epic shirt. It was love at first sight and I immediately clicked the link and scrolled until I found the shirt. Under $50, it's understood that everything from the Wasteland vintage section is one of a kind, with emphasis on one. I raced through the checkout, and bought it. I felt very victorious. I imagine this is what it felt like to the Americans during the space race when they were the first ones to make it to the moon. When I received my "shipped" confirmation, I went back to the page. The shirt was gone. Victorious indeed.

A huge grunge trend I've been seeing pop up are chokers. I have a few myself, and I'm starting to see a lot more people become less afraid of wearing this 90s trend. Chokers have been quite popular in the past few years, but not the type we've been seeing lately. As opposed to relaxed chokers that sit high on the collar bone, these are choker, chokers. Like, if it's a little too tight, you're gonna choke. Above are a few of my favorite, including designer Delfina Delettrez who I just discovered. I'll probably dedicate a post to her later this week.

Lookbook: Now That's What I Call Fashion

My favorite store Wasteland has a new lookbook out that is totally rad, in a really weird way. I feel like saying its 90s themed is an understatement. Extremely 90s, is a bit closer to describing it. Neon, Lisa Frank, Hello Kitty, colored lipstick, everything about it just exudes that bizarre 90s look. Beyond the grunge trend that has been slowly creeping its way through, this is a bit out there.

Kill City; Hussein Chalayan; Jeffrey Campbell; Wasteland

A new trend has been popping up everywhere, especially on the S/S 2012 runways. Holographic is the best way to describe it. Definitely not silver and not just metallic, what makes the hologram look is the shiny, rainbow-like iridescent sheen. I just bought the Wasteland bag, and I really love it. The trend overall I like, but I can see why some may think it's a bit hard to style. When in doubt, go for an accessory, like the purse or shoes. It's very different and unique from the usual "pops" of color.

Lookbook: Life on Mars

Wasteland has a new lookbook for their November looks called "Life on Mars." It's extremely reminiscent of Ziggy Stardust, and who doesn't love Ziggy? Out of all of Bowie's personas, Ziggy Stardust is probably my favorite. Anyways, the lookbook is very futuristic LA. Poolside, palm trees and a lot of shiny clothing.

Lookbook: She's a Libra

One of my favorite stores Wasteland has a new lookbook for October entitled "She's A Libra." As a Libra, I rather like it. The whole point behind the shoot and the name is the balance aspect. Balancing dark with light, kind of like a yin and yang too. And since the balance is the sign for Libra, it does make sense. Shop the lookbook HERE.

Have you heard of the band the Dum Dum Girls? If not, check 'em out. They're native Los Angelinos, so I've been hearing about them quite consistently around town for several years now. Two things I noticed right off the bat: that one chick always wears striped black tights, and they're really rad for an all girl band. That's right. I'm a little bit against all girl bands (shocking since I'm a girl who plays guitar). It's only because a lot of them suck and make me look bad. Anyways, the Dum Dum Girls did a shoot and interview with favorite LA store Wasteland. Check out the rest of the pics and interview here.

Lookbook: Gimme Some Space/Galactic Grunge

Probably my favorite store, Wasteland has a new lookbook for Fall. Emailed under the name 'Galactic Grunge' but headlined as 'Gimme Some Space' (I love both), the lookbook portrays the future days of holograms and outer space. Wow, I did NOT mean for that to rhyme, but anyways, I really can't get enough of outer space wear or it's 90s counterpart. The lookbook has a ton of UNIF, Lilya, Evil Twin and a great amount of vintage. Including a vintage Vivienne Westwood dress that would have Hans Solo swooning. Whatever you decide, with Wastelands guidance, you're bound to get some heads turning.

Some photos from the past week including a deer that got a little too close to me, the inside of a 500,000 year old cave, a trippy van that looks like it came out of the sea, some new Frye motorcycle boots and my new wasted pin from Wasteland on my new UNIF "America" jacket. A lot of newness there, and as you can see, I've decided to become a biker. Too bad I'm afraid of motorcycles. C'est la vie. Also, sorry for the first two pictures being ultra blurry. All I had was my iPhone, I had forgotten my actual camera, and when you need to zoom in, you kind of sacrifice picture quality.
