choke

Topshop; The Cobrasnake; Wasteland; Delfina Delettrez

A huge grunge trend I've been seeing pop up are chokers. I have a few myself, and I'm starting to see a lot more people become less afraid of wearing this 90s trend. Chokers have been quite popular in the past few years, but not the type we've been seeing lately. As opposed to relaxed chokers that sit high on the collar bone, these are choker, chokers. Like, if it's a little too tight, you're gonna choke. Above are a few of my favorite, including designer Delfina Delettrez who I just discovered. I'll probably dedicate a post to her later this week.

boots

Clarks; Gabor; Clarks; Dr. Martens; Clarks; Hunter; Heavenly Feet

I'm quite obsessed with black boots. Whether it's ankle, over the knee, shearling, lace up or chelsea, I've created quite the collection. Since it's the middle of winter, I decided to do a post on my little obsession. Above are some of my favorite styles and favorite brands including Dr. Martens, Hunter, Clarks, Heavenly Feet and Gabor.

All of these styles and a lot more are available on the retail shoe site Shoes by Mail, or you can click HERE.

saint laurent

I don't know if you heard, but a while back, the iconic label Yves Saint Laurent announced they were dropping the Yves from the label name. Don't know why, but I'll just roll with it. Following their new name debut, Yves Saint Laurent is now debuting a new face for their brand. Our favorite grunge singer Sky Ferreira is the star of their new image and their new lookbook. Kind of channeling Abby Lee Kershaw's many tilted heads, Ferreira is decked in black head-to-toe Parisian chic. Which, naturally, we completely adore. We didn't think Sky Ferreira could get any more desirable.

liar

Decided to post some pics from our tumblr account (tab at the top). I felt like I couldn't find any original street style photos. I'm really going to try next week. Maybe I was lagging it or being too picky. But being picky is good. Anyways, I'm really picky about posting pictures of celebrities because I feel like they're cheating when it comes to style. They can afford expensive clothing and expensive stylists to put it all together, which isn't fair to the thousands of people that can put together a great outfit on their own. So Kate Moss, Charlotte Kemp Muhl and Francis Bean Cobain are two of the very few celebrities that I don't feel bad about posting. They've proven that they know what they're doing.

crushed

Widow; Free People; Olsenboye; Funktional; Jeffrey Campbell; UNIF

Crushed velvet is a trend that is up and coming. Be warned, however, this is a type of extension of the grunge trend going around, so don't expect to see Kate fucking Middleton or Kim Kardashian wearing crushed velvet. What makes crushed velvet crushed, and not considered regular velvet, is the wrinkled kind of look. It looks a little bit cheap, but that's just the design. Crushed velvet is a definitely love it or hate it kind of thing, and I love it. The Widow leggings and Jeffrey Campbell flatforms are already in my closet.

Lookbook: The Road Less Traveled

I've always loved the ideals held by nomads. Moving from place to place, meeting new people, learning new things, never staying locked down in one place. Free People's new lookbook "The Road Less Traveled," holds a lot of the nomad ideas. Older trends taken from the Far East with backgrounds from the Middle East, a lot of influence is taken from a nomadic lifestyle. Check out the rest of the lookbook and all the clothes featured HERE.

H A I G H T

Behold, a brand I just discovered, H A I G H T Ashbury. Tee's with trippy pictures and rad slogans, the brand has clothing for boys and girls. The video above displays some of their recent designs, and although the clothing may be a bit obscured (as well as everyone's faces), there's a collage of all their awesome pieces at the end, which is why I'm showing it. That and the music. The music is pretty rad and fits very well with the aesthetic of the brand. Shop all of their shit HERE.

Muse Monday: Mary-Kate Olsen

Mary-Kate

This week's Muse is child star turned fashion icon/designer Mary-Kate Olsen. Immediately I assume you're wondering why I didn't put both the Olsen sisters in this post, and let me explain myself. Mary-Kate has much more attitude than her sister when it comes to style. Much bolder, Mary-Kate has perfected the cool casual look in her everyday wear, still managing to start trends, while her red carpet looks are very daring. While they may both be ridiculed by the media that just doesn't seem to get it, what's important is the right people get it. Olsen's brands The Row and Elizabeth and James have taken off, the latter being one of my personal favorites. The Row recently made headlines with the release of their $55,000 backpack as seen above, covered in Hollywood-loving pills such as Ritalin and Vallium. It's making a statement while saying nothing. Brilliant.

verameat

The more different and unique something is, the better it is, in my opinion. Verameat is one of the most unique jewelry brands I have ever seen or bought from. Two headed dinosaur? Check. Hipposhark? Check. Lion and octopus fight? Check. Above are some of my favorite designs from the lovely and bizarre brand. Check out all their other jewelry HERE.

Rodarte X Starbucks

If there's anything that I love more than clothes, it's probably Starbucks. I'm that person who walks into Starbucks, everyone greets me, and I don't have to say anything because I have a "usual" drink. Don't think I'm exaggerating either. I was absolutely shocked when I walked into Starbucks and saw a big Rodarte X Starbucks section. The collection is only what's pictured above, but all the items are on sale right now. The ceramic cup with plastic lid is $7.99 and the sleeve is $2.99. I'm going back today now that I've strategically thought about what I'm going to buy.

chill

I feel like LA is one of the last places to get winter. I think Miami may beat us, but it only got cold in the last few weeks. Like this week it's fuckin' cold, so I thought it was appropriate to do a really winter themed street style post. I like layering tights with socks to put under my shorts, because it's still LA, and I wear shorts year round. An oversized coat tops it off and I'm usually out the door.
