gimme something to write about

Balmain S/S 2012

So Balmain has this cool new video for their Spring/Summer collection featuring the ever-so-famous Abbey Lee Kershaw with her band Our Mountain, who is also featured in the video as well as providing the video's soundtrack. I love Balmain and how they made punk rock so acceptable again (no offense to Vivienne Westwood).

Rodarte Spring 2012 Lookbook

So I don't know if many of you know this already, but Elle Fanning is apparently trying to take over the world: starting with the world of fashion. Mind you, she's only in 7th grade and already a front row regular at the Paris couture shows and now the new face of Rodarte. She looks a lot older here, I've seen her in TV interviews and she does look and act her age, but in still photos she does look like she could be 17 or 18. Anyways, I should be talking about how amazing the new Rodarte collection is, but I guess time's up.....

i won't waste it

A few photos from the last week including my amazing new camera I got as a gift. I'm having so much fun breaking it in and experimenting with the different settings. Also a crotch shot of some shorts I was wearing today, a shot of Elyssian park, a cool garden display at the Getty and my friend and I taking a picture inside a very baroque room also at the Getty. I NEVER take those "oh I look so cool I need to take a picture of myself but there's no one here so I'll take it in the mirror" kind of shots, but the room was just so rad it seemed like a brilliant idea, and I think it came out pretty well.

you don't know what love is you just do what you're told

Some more amazing Vivienne Westwood jewelry. I seriously can't get over how amazing she is as a jewelry designer. Hope you all had an amazing Christmas. I've been pretty lazy with the blog lately, recovering from all the shopping and eating, but I'll be back to regularly posting now.

Some awesome street style for you Christmas holiday. Some of my favorite trends (because I don't say it enough): leopard print coats, motorcycle jackets and chelsea boots, just to name a few. Hope you're all having a great holiday season!

i'm so far from the crowd

Some photos I took the past week. The photos I take are of things, buildings, people, places that inspire me. I'm really fortunate to be able to live in such a big, great city like Los Angeles. The people, places and things you come across are really quite extraordinary, which is why I try to take a decent amount of pictures within a week and share these things with you guys.

go to hell for heaven's sake

Go To Hell For Heaven's Sake HOL11 from UNIF on Vimeo.

One of my favorite brands UNIF has a new video for their holiday collection Go To Hell For Heaven's Sake. I've gotta say, the video is pretty kick-ass. Super ethereal feel mixed with a hint of intoxication. I adore all the pieces from the collection (which is SUPER 90s by the way) and I already purchased a few of the pieces (the plaid maxi skirt and flame sweater) from Nasty Gal and I suggest you do the same HERE.

smells like teen spirit

Elle Magazine "Teen Spirit" article

I had said in a post a couple weeks ago that I thought the 90s were coming back. Seems Elle Magazine agrees with me. The new January issue of Elle features a "through the decades" article featuring current designers Spring 2012 lines that are reminiscent of a certain decade. The two decades that by far had the longest spread were the 50s (think Carven's peplums) and the 90s, as featured above. The spread is much longer and I suggest you pick up a copy on newsstands now.

who you followin? who you startin' to move like?

Sorry for the delay on the street style post. I know I usually do it on Sunday's but I decided to delay it this week since Bloggers website chose me as their featured blogger that day. I was so excited for about five minutes. Then it kind of just went away. ANYWAYS this post is dedicated to winter outerwear. Fur (faux or not), printed, boyfriend, trench or motorcycle, so many styles to choose from, so little time for cold weather (at least in LA, apparently the temperature on Christmas is supposed to be 80!!! That's kind of kick-ass if you ask me).

Muse Monday: Oh Land

Oh Land

This week's Muse is, of course, Oh Land. I just saw her last week at the El Rey Theater in Hollywood and she was absolutely ethereal in her performance. The Danish beauty (whose looks are strikingly similar to Heidi Klum's) has had quite a run on the concert circuit. She has opened for Katy Perry and Sia and just wrapped up her US tour. Being featured in publications like Nylon and Who What Wear as well as having your album produced by Dan Carey (The Kills, Franz Ferdinand, Hot Chip) isn't too bad either.
