catula from meowsylvania

Some photos from the past few weeks. I was lucky enough to score some great UNIF for cheap at their sample sale in Downtown LA. Luckily they were a few blocks away from my work, so getting there early was really easy. Everything in that photo I scored for under $200, so I am extremely satisfied. Also a while back was the space shuttle Endeavor show. All over LA, Malibu, Hollywood, Pasadena, Downtown you could see it. I saw it. I'm happy. Also some Chanel flats of mine and some street art from Melrose and Downtown. Melrose really does have the best street art. The last one, was named by Timur. I came up with (the horrible) catula, he added "from meowsylvania." Can you forgive us for our lame ways?

baby, you sure look cheap

I really love the line Material Girl. I know it's pretty kitschy and tween, but take my word for it, some of the pieces are insanely great and insanely cheap. I have a snakeskin motorcycle jacket that I always get compliments on from the line and if you don't believe me, believe the line's new face. Former Muse Georgia May Jagger has been selected to represent the brand this fall. Past face's of the line include Kelly Osbourne and Taylor Momsen, but I think the line is definitely growing up by choosing Jagger to represent them. Jagger has previously been the face for brands like Chanel, H&M and Hudson Jeans, and that's naming a few. I'm really excited to see the new collection as well as the look book.

Muse Monday: Abbey Lee Kershaw

Abbey Lee Kershaw

The first Muse of the new year is the lovely model/singer/musician Abbey Lee Kershaw. The ever innocent and adorable model, Kershaw has done ad campaigns for Gucci, H&M, Versace and Chanel, just to name a few. She's walked the  runways of so many shows, I wouldn't even dare to count. Above she's pictured in the Chanel Spring 2010 runway along with a photo Hedi Slimane took of her. Kershaw's bohemian, 70s rock style has also made her a favorite for street style photographers. What most people don't know is that Kershaw is in the band Our Mountain. Although she doesn't do much (she plays tambourine), it's cool nonetheless to be able to say you're in a band.

i've got the feeling of love

Some photos from a recent trip to Melrose. Window shopping is close to impossible with all the cool window designs and displays. I think the first photo is a Banksy, but I'm not 100% sure.

i want to be forgotten

Some photos I found on my computer including a bunch of shoeboxes that are a little too cool to throw away, this little dandelion that seemed to be a bit of a gangsta with all his homie dandelions watchin'  his back, some Doc Martens at Nordstrom that weren't my size, a bunch of my lipsticks that I just realized were all variations of the same color and the most kick-ass mural I've seen on La Brea so far.

Muse Monday: Natasha Khan

natasha khan

This week's Muse is Natasha Khan, although you might know her by the stage name Bat for Lashes. Khan's dreamy voice and haunting music has made her a much known and acclaimed artist in her native country (Both her debut album and sophomore albums were nominated for the Mercury Prize Award). Thom York, Debbie Harry, Björk and Ringo Starr are all fans and while the third Bat for Lashes album may be a bit too far in the future, rumors are that Beck is going to be working with Khan on it. Until then, we'll just admire her ethereal outfits and songs about wizards and castles.

Muse Monday: Florence Welch

Florence

This week's muse is the lovely and talented Florence Welch. While her music has been widely critically acclaimed, big designers have also noticed Ms. Welch's great sense of style. Her on stage outfits are glamorous with fabrics like chiffon and silk that make her look like an angelic figure with hair of fire. Her vintage style is reminiscent of 1940s Hollywood glamor with kimono sleeves and empire waists. She recently played at Chanel's S/S 2012 show and is a front row regular at Givenchy, Valentino and Yves Saint Laurent. We can't wait to see what she will wear (or do) next.
